Was a bit disappointed with this whiskey. It’s a pretty complex flavor, with notes of caramel and I swear a bit of balsamic which I didn’t necessarily enjoy.

Very solid for the price point. Complex and oaky for a minimum of three years.

Great taste, complex with a good balance. Nice finish with a linger on the palate.

There are many “fake” Japanese whiskies lately, and this is one of them.
Chinese and Russian people import different whiskies from overseas, and just bottle them in Japan,
and export as Japanese whisky.
You cannot find these fake Japanese whiskies in Japan.
You should avoid whiskies other than Suntory and Nikka.

Decent but overpriced. At the $30 price point you will enjoy Monkey Shoulder better.

New to whiskey, but I really like this one. Very smooth with that slight oak taste.

After eyeing it for a long time on the shelf, finally gave it a try earlier in the summer. FANTASTIC!! Immediately returned to by a few bottles as father’s day presents—including one more for me!
Meikakuna has become my staple ‘house’ whiskey. But, a little startled it was missing on the shelf when I visited TJoe’s yesterday! Not too surprised—especially if others have discovered it too. Just hope it comes back!!

Any evidence that this whisky is not really from Japan. Tried it, not a lot of flavor but not unpleasant.

Favorite alcoholic beverage of all time. Fruity and smooth not smokey and tart like most others. My girlfriend didn’t like whiskey until she tried this. I keep a few extra bottles around in case they run out again.

Sorry, it’s not about the taste, but the label’s design. Red letters are supposed to be read ‘Meikakuna’ in Japanese kanji, but the details are wrong. It’s so easy to check by any Japanese person.

I have some extremely expensive Scotch and Irish single malts of various types. Those are for sipping and thinking. This Japanese whisky, whether made or bottled there or not, is my go-to for evenings when I just want something light, with a chip of ice, to end a long day. It’s perfect for that.
