Just Sauce is right…where’s the meat? The picture on the package is not what you get inside, not even close. Virtually no meat in that sauce, and what meat there is, is super tiny bits, almost ground to a powder. Save your money. Add your own cooked ground turkey to a jar of sauce and actually have a meat sauce that can truthfully be called a bolognese.

This sauce is very good- I like the combination of flavors. It’s one of my favorite Trader Joe’s frozen items. Easy to prepare when coming home late from work.

I love Bolognese but I lack cooking skills and can only find it in restaurants. The sauces in stores? They’re “flavored with meat”, which means it’s barely detectable. When I found Trader Joe’s, I thought I’d give it a try. Is it as good as what you get in an Italian restaurant? No. Is it better than the grocery store alternative? Yes, definitely meatier than store brands although nowhere near as meaty as the artwork on the box would have you believe.
I’ll probably still go the restaurant when I’m in the mood for Bolognese, but I’ll keep a box in the freezer for those times when I’m just too lazy to leave the house.

I’d give this 4.5.
When you go to a more authentic Italian restaurant, their bolognese is light on tomato and heavier on the wine flavor. The meat is minced pretty finely. It really surprised me how close this is to that. Of course it’s not as rich with the ground turkey, but the flavors are there. I love this stuff. Literally eat it with a spoon for dinner with some parmiggiano reggiano.
My favorite food since I was a kid is normal American spaghetti topped with a chunky and very tomato-y and garlicky sauce. This is *not* that. Just a different thing altogether. But still so good. Hope they don’t stop making it.

So disappointed this is discontinued! Paired with the TJ’s kale gnocchi, this turkey bolognese plus a little grated pecorino romano made an amazingly good, eeeasy dinner!

Yet another voice pleading for this item to come back. A store employee told me Trader Joe’s was having difficulty with the supplier. This is a good thing to haul out of the freezer when you’re out of ideas.
