Disappointing with a capital ‘D’. Perhaps I purchased this item with my eyes closed. Having read several reviews, I found an opportunity to purchase this item. That said, once home, I tried several pieces hoping to get cooling cheddar flavor with punctuated by pepper spices. Got neither. Too mild a cheddar taste and a total absence of any spice. Where did I go wrong? I should have brought my glasses so that I could have carefully read the ingredients. Did I state, ‘Perhaps I purchased this item with my eyes closed’? Lesson learned.

This cheese is terrible. No heat from the peppers and way too sweet.

I absolutely love this cheese. It’s slightly vinegary with a nice cheddar flavor. Pairs well with the fig olive crackers too

Normally I love and trust Trader Joe’s products so I was shocked that this cheese is so not good. Right away I noticed how sweet it is. The second ingredient is “Scotch bonnet chili pepper relish” and the first ingredient of that is sugar. So there’s more sugar than pepper in these cheese! The second thing, the cheddar aspect of it is terrible. It’s so soft and mushy that it’s hard to cut and the flavor is so mild, blindfolded I would guess American. It has clearly not been aged long enough to be a legal cheddar in Europe. And then, this cheese with “Scotch bonnet” in it is barely spicy. Just a detectable level, but not befitting that name. Pass hard on this cheese.

Love it! I think anyone not giving this cheese a great review has issues with their tastebuds!

I was so disappointed with this cheese! I actually found this site because I was trying to find out if it was processed cheddar…certainly tastes like it…too sweet and somehow artificial. I am usually impressed with Trader Joe’s products but this one is not to my taste.

This cheese is my favorite Trader Joes cheese, the flavor is so addicting. It’s not overwhelmingly spicy but still has a kick. I do notice the sweetness too but it’s wonderful! Love

Strongly disagree with any of the above reviewers who talk about this cheese being disappointing. This is hands down the best cheese I’ve ever tasted.

Very disappointed. Taste like a cheese spread/processed, soft and chalky. I did not taste any scotch bonnet peppers. I did see red peppers in the cheese, very mild red peppers.
