Yuck! I bought this last year thinking it would be a perfect small treat to have each night leading up to Christmas. Portion control + fun/cute sounded like a great combo. It did pass the fun/cute test, but unfortunately the chocolate itself was totally flavorless and gross. I’m no chocolate snob — Hershey’s plain milk chocolate is delicious to me. But this doesn’t even have half that richness. Next year I’ll pass.

The box is cute, but the chocolate tastes like wax! They’re only $1, so you get what you pay for, but still. Save you money and buy a calendar with higher-quality chocolate.

I have gotten a chocolate Advent calendar from Trader Joe’s every year since 1984. So it is 2022, so this makes it my 39th year of having a chocolate Advent calendar, so I am the one to ask! Yes, I am in my late 40s and still have to have a chocolate Advent calendar every year! They used to be an Adventskalender by Kusterer of Germany. When they were made by Kusterer, the chocolate tasted much better, and the pieces were larger. The graphics on the calendars were also much better. They were classic oil paintings. They used to cost more. I think they were $1.59. That was perfectly fine. The 2022 calendar was 99 cents, and made in Canada. This year, there were 4 different designs. 2 were okay, and 2 were really weird and psychedelic, and not very Christmassy. I don’t expect an advent calendar to only cost 99 cents. I would rather pay $2.00 – $3.00 and get better chocolate, bigger pieces of chocolate, and better graphics.
