CRAZY GOOD! Heat it up in the oven and it is over-the-top great!

Really very chocolatey, more like dessert than the traditional more bread like babka.
Significantly better when toasted or served warm.

So delicious – tastes like a combination of chocolate croissants and cake. The chocolate chips on top make it even better.

I was a little skeptical about this because it looks “weird” (ie: not like any type of cake or pastry I’ve had before), but it was extremely tasty! We even ended up having it as my daughter’s birthday cake. Only problem is, you won’t be able to stop after just one bite!

This is a great dessert. Never had anything like it before but I would definitely eat it again! Perfect type of chocolatey flavor.

This is a delightful, decadent sweet that I hope TJ’s will always carry. Served it for a birthday cdlebration and everyone wanted seconds. Being Polish, I am always on the lookout for a moist, tasty babka. This surpasses all I have had in 67 years. UNtraditional? Who cares!!!

Trader Joe’s has the best chocolate babka. I live in Surprise, Arizona and we don’t get good East Coast ethnic favorites. I am bringing it to the Hanukah/Christmas celebration in my community.

Our first Brooklyn Chocolate Babka. Got yesterday, completely dry and bitter. Could swallow only with whipped cream. We enjoy dark chocolate daily. Any experienced Chocolate Babka Lover there to help? We certainly would appreciateit.

This is so tasty, like it’s fresh from a bakery.
To the above reviewer: it sounds like maybe you got a bad batch, what a bummer! Because it definitely hasn’t been very dry or bitter at all any time I’ve had it, and I don’t even like very dark chocolate so I would probably be extra sensitive to it if it was. Fingers crossed you get a better result next time.

This is the best chocolate babka I have ever eaten!! Filled with delicious chocolate, and the dough is perfect, too. The chocolate chips on top are really yummy. I very much recommend this, moist and fresh and perfect babka! Definitely hard to stop at one slice.

I’m a babka fan, enjoying it whenever I’m in New York. Trader Joe’s babka is good – but in my opinion it doesn’t take the top prize. Green’s babka is more moist, and sets the standard. I’ll continue to get Green’s shipped, but if I’m at a Trader Joe’s and feel the craving, I’ll still pick one up.

No taste, either chocolate or cinnamon or butter. Just oily. Pretty awful. A big disappointment since it looked so good in the packaging. Will be returning!

What happened here? It used to be mouth watering good, now dry and no flavor. They are obviously cutting back on the chocolate. Shame…

very dry but somehow stodgy too! flavor is fine but texture is awful

Any rating less than a 5 star is fake. This delicious combination of dark chocolate layered between croissant like pastry is a creation of the gods. Don’t miss out on experiencing it.

I don’t know if NSN had ever tried the old Babka, but the changes they made to this recipe are truly sub par. I used to get the babka because it was a really good sweet bread with actual chocolate mixed throughout. It almost tasted homemade. This new recipe tastes extremely processed, like a white bread with some sort of chocolate product mixed in.

Excellent chocolate flavor, and extra points for the mini-chip topping. Serious structural integrity issues. When cut, it falls apart. There’s a cardboard liner between the plastic packaging and the babka itself which is stuck to it like glue. The top layer of pastry – unlike any real babka I’ve ever had – flakes off in pieces and makes a big mess. Just something to be aware of.

This right here- a true masterpiece. Dk what you bad reviews are talking about, mine has plenty of chocolate and is dry. Something is wrong with your Trader Joe’s then, if its bad.

I was so excited to try this, but it was bitter and tasteless. The taste it did have was just kind of weird. I hate to throw it away, but I can’t fathom making myself eat this whole thing.

Say it ain’t so! We were in love with TJ’s Chocolate Babka but what we bought yesterday was awful! Where did the good chocolate go? Both comments about being overly processed and bitter were good descriptions. I guess instead of throwing it away I should return it for a refund so they’ll know. Dang, we used to love that Chocolate Brooklyn Babka.

Disappointed –
Yes I’ve purchased the chocolate Babka before and it was moist and delicious. I purchased some today and was very disappointed. It was very dry. Very disappointing. Did they change the recipe? If they did, shame on them. Why would you want to mess with a good thing?

Super DRY. Chocolate? Not hardly. It looks like it was dusted with a little dry Nesquik powder and tastes even worse. There were some chocolate chips on the top, to be fair. I think they had a good idea, but they failed in the execution.
