Oh no… they’re discontinuing this! A real shame.
Firstly, this is so very tasty, and could easily be called near restaurant quality. You steam these pre-cooked lamb “meat balls” (kofta) in a shallow layer of water. As the water begins to burn off, add the masala sauce and cook for another 2 minutes. Delicious!
My only gripe that kept it from getting 5 stars is that it’s guaranteed you’ll get a bone chip in one or more koftas. It happens every time for me. So, when I eat these I bite softly. You don’t need to chew hard anyway, but just be a little cautious. For me, the delicious taste is worth it! However, if by some chance this product gets another sales life with Trader Joe’s, contact the maker and see if they can work on that bone chip problem.

Why, oh why, are these discontinued? Combined with the palak paneer and garlic naan, this made a delicious and complete meal my whole family loved – even my Indian husband who did not grow up with frozen food. We beg you to please bring these back!

The Lamb Koftas with Masala Sauce are the best I’ve ever had. I would buy 10 to 12 packages at a time because of the long drive to TJ’s. We want them back!!! Trader Joe’s corporate team are you listening? We want them back in the stores!!! I’ll buy double and share with friends this time… I promise!
